Mr Doyle’s 3rd Class 2025-26

September was a great first month back in school. The class settled in brilliantly and worked hard. In English, we explored Irish folktale creatures and created our own mythology-inspired stories. In History, we learned about life in the Stone Age. Well done to everyone on a fantastic start to the year!
We’ve just finished another great month in October. The class really enjoyed the Halloween season — creating spooky art, learning new Irish words and phrases, and dancing at the Halloween disco. We also took part in the sponsored walk, where we visited Loretto Park and had fantastic fun in the playground. Well done to everyone on another brilliant month!

Over the past two months 3rd Class have been very busy taking part in lots of fun activities.

In February we celebrated Friendship Week where we learned all about the importance of kindness, respect, and treating everyone around us with care. As part of this we enjoyed a wonderful Intercultural Day. This gave all of us in 3rd class the opportunity to learn about the many different countries and cultures represented in our class and school.

We also took part in World Book Week, which was a big highlight for everyone. The children dressed up as their favourite book characters and took part in lots of reading activities. We were also very lucky to have a special visitor who told us all about Irish folklore which the class really enjoyed.

In March, we celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge. The class made a great effort to use their phrasaí throughout the week and took part in a ceolchoirm. We performed the song “Dílín Ó Deamhas”, which was a brilliant experience and a great chance to showcase our learning.

It has been a very enjoyable and busy few months in 3rd Class!

We had a fantastic month of November in school. The students worked incredibly hard and took part in lots of exciting activities. We visited Nutgrove to sing Christmas songs and help switch on the Christmas lights, which was a wonderful experience. We also celebrated Science Week, where the class carried out experiments, built shapes with LEGO, explored life under the sea in the dome and created their own vehicles using K’Nex. Attached are some photos showing our great month.
Third Class have settled back in well after the Christmas break and have made a positive start to the new year. The children have begun gymnastics and hurling and are really enjoying developing their skills and working together. In the classroom, they have been learning about light and exploring how it can be used in artwork. It has been a busy and exciting start to 2026.
