Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny had been to visit and left lots of eggs in our yard! We had great fun working together and found them all in no time. We hope everyone has an egg-cellent Easter break!
World Book Day

What a week we had to celebrate World Book Day! We kicked off the week with a book swap. All the children brought in their favourite books to share with each other for DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time. We also had some special guests from third class who came to read to us - what a treat! We also had a fabulous storyteller who delighted us all with her guitar, puppets, props and more. The week finished up with our Character Dress Up Day. Well done to all the families on the super costumes!
Bake Sale

We all baked delicious cakes, buns and cookies for the school bake sale. We had lots of fun doing this and some of us even bought our own baked goods on the day. It was lovely to sit down with our friends and enjoy our treats. Some of us got lucky and won prizes in the raffle! Thanks to all the families for helping with the bake sale.
Merry Christmas!

What a busy December we have had! We have had a wonderful time preparing for Christmas. We have been learning about Advent and the story of the first Christmas. The children all wrote Christmas cards for their families and sent them in the post.  They have also created beautiful winter art and Christmas decorations. We have had some special visitors including the Garda band and Santa himself. Luckily we could tell him we have been so good all year! In the last week we finally got to perform our Christmas play for all our families. The children all did so well and got huge applause from the audience - well done everyone!

Science Week 2023

Our budding scientists have had so much fun experimenting, exploring and learning this week! Some of the highlights included coding, using magnets, construction challenges and investigating floating and sinking. We also had a special visit from a robot dog! Thanks to 5th class for helping us with the science stations in the hall at the end of the week.
Gymnastics Lessons

Over the last eight weeks we have been doing weekly gymnastics lessons with Alberto. We have loved the station activities every week. Some of the skills we have been working on include balancing, tumbling, rolling, jumping and more. We have been gaining confidence and improving our skills every week - great job everyone!
Sunshine in the Sensory Garden!

We made the most of the Indian summer we had by playing together in our school sensory garden. All of the boys and girls love using the swing, slide and climbing frame. The sensory garden is a great place to come for a well-deserved movement break!
Seachtain na Gaeilge

What a super Lá Glas! We all looked gorgeous in green to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Thanks to Ms. Hannigan for teaching us some Irish dancing at our ceilí. We baked some lovely shamrock cookies and created some fabulous pieces of art - maith sibh!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Our class created some beautiful artwork to celebrate Valentine's Day! We also made lovely cards to give to our loved ones. The red and pink dress up day was a big hit and we all looked fantastic in our outfits!
Procedural Writing

We have been learning about procedural writing. We know that procedural writing involves explaining how to do something and that we need to give step by step instructions. We made a delicious treat of jelly and ice cream and wrote the recipe in our copies. We really enjoyed this!
A Trip to the DSPCA

We were delighted to be invited to the DSPCA to tour their facilities and learn about all the animals they help to care for. We learned about the ‘Adopt, Don’t Shop’ rule and how much responsibility it is to care for an animal. All the boys and girls loved seeing the dogs, cats, pigs, horses and donkeys that live in the DSPCA. We finished the trip with a walk around the grounds. Thank you to all at the DSPCA!
Happy Halloween!
Our class has been enjoying ‘spooky season’. We particularly enjoyed creating Halloween art and loved painting our own individual pumpkins! Lots of fun was had at the Halloween disco and our costumes were super cool.
Maths Week 2023

We had so much fun celebrating Maths Week in our class! We had great fun representing numbers, shapes and patterns in lots of different ways using concrete materials. One of the highlights was using marshmallows to make 2D shapes and of course eating a few as a treat! We really enjoy using our iPads for learning and this week we tried out coding using the app 'Daisy the Dinosaur'. Great work everyone!
