MLD Class 2024-25

Sports Day:
We had our Sports Day and what a Sports Day it was!!! The sun was shinning which made it even better, we integrated into our mainstream classes to take part. We had to race, bounce on hoppers, dress up, balance eggs, tug a rope and much more. We have a couple of snaps from the day to share with you all!
Our Sunflower Seedlings:
We are learning about the Life Cycle of a Plant. We've learnt that when you plant a seed that it takes 10-14 days to germinate which means the plant grows some roots and sprouts out from the top. We are super excited to watch our seedlings grow, they have grown so much already.
Our Gummy Bear Science Experiment:
In Science we did an experiment with gummy bear sweets, our aim was to answer the question "What will happen when we put a Gummy Bears in different liquids?". We chose four liquids, water, salt water, vinegar and 7 up.

We put the liquids into plastic cups and popped a different coloured gummy bear into each one. We made predictions about how we thought the liquids might change the appearance of the gummy bears. We put the cups onto the window sill and left the gummy bears for 4 days. After four days we drained the liquids and observed how the gummy bears changed or not. We recorded our findings and then compared them to our predictions.
Bubbling Magic Potions:
Today we made our own bubbling foamy potions. We used vinegar, washing liquid, food colouring, glitter and bicarbonate soda to create our fantastic potions. We had a lot of fun!!!!
Our Trip to Airfield Estate:
We visited Airfield Estate as part of Science Week. We had a lot of fun and learnt so much about how to run a farm. A couple of things we learnt about on the farm was: How Nature Cleans Our Water, The Eggshellent Adventure - how eggs are made up, Agroforestry, Soil Types Under the Microscope, Compost, Solar Panels and Organic Gardening. We got a big surprise when we visited the farm yard where the cows are milked. There were four baby calves which we were able to pet which was so much fun.

Last week when the weather was fantastic we took got our gardening tools and sorted out or flower bed outside our classroom window. We used the tools to de weed our flower bed and we made bamboo teepees for our sweet pea flowers to grow up. We then loosened the soil and planted two lavender plants.
